Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Torino saw under 2.5 goals scored in eight of their final 12 matches of last season, while only Serie A’s top four conceded fewer than their 41 goals against. Monza, meanwhile, may be disjointed after adding 17 new players since promotion.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Only three Serie A teams recorded more than Torino’s 11 Serie A draws last season, and they may struggle for goals after losing Andrea Belotti, having already managed just the 14th-best attacking record in the Italian top flight in 2021-22.

Monza vs Torino Predictions

  • Eight of Torino’s last 12 league games have contained under 2.5 goals.
  • Il Toro only conceded 41 Serie A goals last season; only the top four managed better defensive records.
  • Monza have seen under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last 11 league matches.

Torino endure summer meltdown ahead of new boys clash

Since Ivan Juric led Torino to a top-half finish in Serie A, Il Toro have endured a frustrating spell, losing key men Gleison Bremer and Andrea Belotti before their coach engaged in a public falling-out with director Davide Vagnati. While all may not be well in Turin, newly promoted Monza may need time to adapt following a busy summer of their own.

Torino saw eight of their final 12 Serie A games of the 2021-22 campaign contain under 2.5 goals, and only the division’s top four conceded fewer than their 41 goals against. Juric’s solid 3-4-3 system made them hard to beat last term, but only six Serie A teams scored fewer than their 46 goals, eight of which were scored by their since-departed talisman Belotti.

Monza, meanwhile, have made an incredible 17 signings since winning Serie B’s play-offs, with the Silvio Berlusconi-Adriano Galliani partnership working to bring in the likes of Matteo Pessina, Andrea Ranocchia and Stefano Sensi. The hosts may be aiming higher than survival after attracting several big names, but their high turnover of players makes it difficult to predict how they will start.

Under 2.5 goals the best play

With both sides appearing difficult to predict after difficult or busy summers, backing under 2.5 match goals, which was also a winning bet in six of Monza’s last 11 competitive games, looks the best play.

Meanwhile, a 1-1 draw may make for a decent correct score prediction while Monza’s host of new signings adapt to Giovanni Stroppa’s system.
