Motherwell vs St Johnstone Betting Tips

Motherwell’s poor first half to the season has left them in a bit of a tricky situation. They currently sit in 10^th position in the Scottish Premiership with just 21 points from their opening 18 games.

Fortunately for them, they do have games in over the rest of the table, and they have started to pick up some points in December.

Motherwell have won their last two matches and are unbeaten in three, including an impressive 2-1 victory at Celtic Park and a draw against Hearts.

These two wins are the first back to back victories Motherwell have picked up in the league since their relegation playoff clash with Rangers at the end of last season.

They have a great chance of picking up another win on Wednesday as well. St Johnstone have recently seen their excellent run of form hit a bit of a stumbling block.

The visitors come into this game having only won one of their last four matches after they had enjoyed a run of six wins in nine matches. They have still only lost two of their last 13 matches in all competitions though.

This leaves them up in 4^th position in the Scottish Premiership, and a win on Wednesday could see them overtake Hearts and move into the top three.

Both teams have suffered defensively recently. Motherwell have conceded in each of their last five league games and St Johnstone have only kept a clean sheet once in their last nine outings.

St Johnstone have scored in seven of these nine games as well though, whilst Motherwell have only failed to score once in their last seven outings.

This makes odds of 4/5 for Both Teams to Score look really good value to me, and I’m also going to back a 2-1 St Johnstone win at 17/2.
