Nantes FC v FC Metz predictions for this Ligue 1 match. The hosts have gone a long time without winning but can they change that here against Metz? Read on for our free Ligue 1 predictions and betting tips.

Predictions & Tips

Both Teams To Score @ 6/5

We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Metz 2-1 @ 14/1

Reason For Nantes vs Metz Predictions

  • Nantes have lost each of their last five home matches with ten goals conceded along the way.
  • Metz played 80+ minutes last week with ten men and lost 2-1 but before that they had been unbeaten in six games with three wins in the process.
  • Both sides have scored in four of Nantes’ last five matches and eight of Metz’s last league outings.

Nantes drifting down the table

Christian Gourcuff’s Nantes side have really gone off the boil recently with them winless in their last five games. This has caused them to slide down to 12th despite ending 2019 in 5th. It has really been a tough period for them with heavy defeats and late heartbreaks alike. They’ve conceded 13 goals in this time with four of them coming in the last ten minutes. Their most recent game had both these qualities as they drew 3-3 with Dijon, only salvaging a point through a late Andrei Girotto header.

The Canaries were once an extremely solid outfit at the back but this has crumbled away in recent weeks, even at the Stade de la Beaujoire. They have just one clean sheet in their last eight at home with 14 goals conceded and ten scored in this time. The last five have all ended in defeat and they’re in with another challenge here against Metz.

The visitors in solid form despite last week’s slip-up

The visitors lost their match last week 2-1 to Bordeaux although they were severely handicapped by the sending off of Vincent Pajot after eight minutes. Les Grenats managed to hold the lead for the bulk of the match but eventually succumbed to fatigue in the second half. They will be looking to bounce back here though as they had been in impressive form before this unfortunate loss.

They were unbeaten in their last six league games with nine scored and five conceded, the draws with Marseille (1-1), Montpellier (1-1) and win over Strasbourg (1-0) really showing their momentum and quality. Metz will be the visitors for this one and while they haven’t been as clinical on the road this season, they still have put in some respectable performances with just the one loss in their last six in Ligue 1.

An exciting clash on the cards?

Both sides have been in solid scoring form recently and with both teams netting in four of Nantes’ last five matches and eight of Metz’s last league outings, we’re backing that to happen again here. We’re also edging this one in favour of the visitors as the Canaries were very lucky to draw last week and with their awful home record, we feel les Grenats will be able to take advantage here.
