NEC vs Heerenveen Predictions
NEC’s road form has been good in recent weeks. They stole a 1-0 away win against Willem II and then held on for a draw against Roda JC. In general, it’s difficult to take issue with this club’s start to their Dutch Eredivisie campaign, their goal, after all, is top flight survival.
They’ve enjoyed success on the road by shutting up shop and sorting out their defensive set-up. After giving up six goals in two games against Ajax and Heracles, NEC has kept two straight clean sheets. Still, coming home can put additional pressure on a team with more impetus on them to take control of the game and to try and score goals.
It hasn’t been an easy follow up campaign for Heerenveen after they put together an all-round impressive season in 2014-15. They did hold PSV to a draw at home, and have taken just the one loss (last weekend) 3-1 to Groningen.
They’ve been guilty of conceding goals, but they also always look like a threat to score. Heerenveen aren’t an easy team to get a read on, but we still like them to match preseason expectations and finish somewhere in the top seven or eight teams in the Eredivisie.
Three Reasons for Betting Tips
1. Heerenveen recent results
Heerenveen create chances of their own, but are susceptible at the back. It was a recipe for a succession of 1-1 draws before last weekend’s loss and we’re expecting that run to resume Friday night.
2. NEC’s defensive run ends
They’ve kept two cleansheets, but we think Heerenveen presents a different challenge and the impetus is different in a game played on home turf.
3. Odds just good enough
We think that without NEC’s two recent clean sheets, you wouldn’t get much of anything on a BTTS bet here. However, we do like it at 4/7 right now and think it’s a good chance to make some money.
