Netherlands vs Montenegro Predictions

  • The Netherlands have won their last six competitive matches on home soil.
  • Five of the last six Netherlands matches have featured fewer than four goals (3 Wins, 1 Draw, 1 Loss).
  • Eight of the last 10 Montenegro away games have featured fewer than four goals.
  • Giorginio Wijnaldum has scored 15 goals in his last 21 competitive appearances for Oranje.

Back Wijnaldum to weigh in with a goal against Montengero

Montenegro are threatening to make World Cup qualifying Group G into a four-way tussle as they currently sit on the same number of points as the Netherlands and Norway, one back of leaders Turkey.

Their confidence will be raised by a 2-2 draw against on Wednesday night, but a trip to face Oranje on home soil will be a pretty daunting task.

The Dutch may be finding their feet again after the chaos of Frank de Boer’s short-lived reign in charge and the return to the ordered style of Louis van Gaal.

But they have too many good players to suffer for long and this looks an ideal chance to get the disappointing display against Norway out of their system.

Holland have won their last six competitive matches on home soil and only faltered at the Euro 2020 Finals when they were forced on the road.

Giorginio Wijnaldum is enjoying the best run of goalscoring form for his country with 15 in his last 21 starts and looks a great bet to add to his tally against a side that have conceded five in their last two games.

As fans of Liverpool and Newcastle know, the midfielder is a specialist scorer on home turf with 23 of his last 27 club goals having been registered in front of home fans (and nine of his last 15 for Holland).

But while this sort of game looks perfect for him to make his mark in, it may not finish up in a landslide win for the Dutch.

The records of both teams suggest this clash is unlikely to top three goals, so we are taking a Netherlands win and under 3.5 goals as the main bet and a 3-0 Dutch triumph in correct score betting.
