New York Red Bulls vs Chicago Fire Predictions
New York Red Bulls are challenging for the top spot in the MLS Eastern Conference, sitting in 2nd position with three games in hand on top of the table DC United.
They are only two points behind the leaders, and with nine points more left to play for then the smart money is on them being at the summit of the table before long.
They beat DC United at home at the end of August, with a 3-0 victory seeing Bradley Wright Phillips add two to his ever increasing goals tally, which now stands at 13 for the season.
This made it eight wins in the Red Bulls’ last 11 games in all competitions, with two games ending as draws and their only loss coming just over two weeks ago.
However, this loss was against this weekend’s opponents, Chicago Fire. This made it three wins for Chicago Fire in the last four meetings between these sides, and New York Red Bulls have only won once in their last six games against the away side.
But midnight on Friday could bring an opportunity to improve that record. Chicago Fire are in poor form, with that win at home the New York Red Bulls being their only victory in their last seven matches.
Four of these matches have ended in defeat for Chicago, results which have seen them remain in a poor position in the MLS Eastern Conference.
They are the team propping up the rest of the table, with their 27 points from 27 games one poinr fewer than 9th placed New York City.
They do have a game in hand over 8th placed Orlando City and 7th placed Philadelphia Union though, who are both within a win over the bottom placed club.
Six of New York Red Bulls last eight games have ended with three or more goals being scored, and Chicago Fire have conceded 11 goals in their last five games.
I think that this is the perfect opportunity for New York Red Bulls to maintain their challenge for the top spot and improve their record against Chicago Fire. Add to this the high scoring nature of recent matches and I think that odds of 9/4 for a Red Bulls Win and Over 3.5 Goals are very generous.
