Newcastle Jets vs Brisbane Roar Predictions
After finishing rock bottom of the Hyundai A-League last season Newcastle Jets have made some strides to try and improve on their disappointing campaign.
They began the season by winning three of their opening four A-League games, including a victory against the reigning champions Melbourne Victory.
They have incurred two losses so far, with Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers both beating Newcastle Jets at their home ground. Their last two matches have ended all square against Central Coast Mariners and Adelaide United.
They are still in a decent position though despite their three match winless streak, sitting in 5th position and just three points off the top spot.
It’s Brisbane Roar occupying that top spot, with 14 points from their opening seven games giving them a point advantage over Melbourne Victory, although the champions do have a game in hand.
Brisbane Roar have only lost once so far this season, a 3-2 away defeat to Wellington Phoenix towards the tail end of October.
They have won four and drawn two of their remaining six matches as they look to improve on their 6th placed finish last term.
Brisbane Roar have had the upper hand in recent times when they have met with Newcastle Jets. They played out a goalless draw during the off season in a friendly fixture, but before that they had won their previous four matches against them. The Roar scored 12 goals and conceded just two during this period.
With Newcastle Jets running out of the early season steam they enjoyed, I think Brisbane Roar have what it takes to get a win on Saturday. Odds of 17/20 for a Brisbane Roar victory look good value to me, as do odds of 17/2 with a 2-0 correct score prediction.
