Dundalk to put exclamation mark on tie

The 4-0 first leg win for Dundalk last week all but put this tie to bed before the second leg has even got underway. The Irish side scored two either side of half time to secure the win and they know that they just need avoid the same scoreline in reverse to book their place in the next qualifying round.

That win is a far cry from their recent domestic form however where they’ve struggled at points. They sit in seventh place, 14 points off of top spot and well outside the European qualification places. With three losses in their last seven league games they certainly are beatable but that 4-0 scoreline is a giant hill to climb.

Newtown will come into the game with some hope though with the Welsh side winning eight of their last 10 games domestically, six of those without conceding a goal. The gulf in class last week was evident though and, despite some really good league form, this looks like a bridge too far for the hosts.

The 2.5 goal line is probably the play in this contest with Dundalk having enough in their locker to beat it themselves. We’re backing the line to be beaten in the second leg though and we think Dundalk run out handsome winners once more, this time by a 3-0 scoreline
