Nigeria vs Tanzania Predictions
- Nigeria have won five of their last six African Cup of Nations group games.
- Tanzania’s last five competitive matches have all gone under 2.5 goals.
- Tanzania have not scored in six of their last eight Afcon outings.
Super Eagles to be too strong for goalshy opponents
It has been a few months to forget for Nigeria, who saw a pay dispute between players and the football federation while they also missed out on qualification for the World Cup when losing a penalty shootout to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
A shot at redemption is possible in the Africa Cup of Nations, where they will be looking to go one better than their runner-up spot from two years ago.
They start their campaign against Tanzania, who come into this tournament in poor form.
The Taifa Stars are seven games without a win and have lost five of those. They have also never won a game in three previous Afcon campaigns so look up against it in a tricky group.
In four World Cup qualifiers this year, Hemed Morocco’s men scored just once and may struggle to get on the scoresheet against the Super Eagles.
This may not be a vintage crop of Nigerian players but they still have one of the deepest pools of players in the continent, they should be able to win this curtain raiser with a minimum of fuss. Take Nigeria to win to nil.
Tanzania’s last five competitive matches have all gone under 2.5 goals and Nigeria are fancied to ease to a 2-0 win.
