Nimes vs Marseille Predictions
- Nîmes have won four of their last five matches with ten goals scored along the way but five of these were netted against teams playing with ten men.
- Marseille have the second best away record in the league with just one loss and seven wins in their last ten games on the road.
- Marseille have won the last two clashes between these teams 3-1, with the most recent clash happening in December.
Marseille Hitting A Snag But Generally Brilliant
Marseille were heavy favourites as they went into their clash at home to Nantes last week but the Canaries managed to stun the 2nd placed side with the game finishing 3-1 to the visitors. It was the Olympiens’ first loss in the league since October’s defeat to PSG but so they’ll be all the more determined to get the three points here.
OM’s performances on the road have been very good which will please André Villas-Boas’ men here. They have the second best away record with only PSG gaining more points on the road. They’ve lost just one of their last ten away games in all competitions with seven wins and six clean sheets along the way.
Marseille have been slightly more tame in attack recently with just seven goals in their last five but they should be backing themselves against the team currently sitting third from bottom in Ligue 1. OM also have won the last two meetings between these sides, both ending 3-1 with the most recent fixture happening in December.
Nîmes Looking To Get Back To Their Fantastic Winning Streak
Nîmes suffered their first defeat in four matches last week as they narrowly lost 2-1 to 3rd placed Rennes. It was an unfortunate loss for the Crocodiles as they were the away side and had to play forty minutes with ten men following Anthony Briançon’s red card. They held out for so long but were powerless to resist as M’Baye Niang slammed home an 89th minute winner.
Despite this, Nîmes had gone into this game on a run of four consecutive wins so will be looking to get back to that type of form. During this streak they had been good in attack with nine scored in this time but they were given a lot of help by their opponents’ mistakes as just one of the wins ended against a full eleven men. Five of the nine goals were netted against teams playing with ten men so some of these victories should be looked at with a degree of doubt.
Nîmes To Give Silver Medallists Marseille A Scare?
However, Nîmes have been very good at home recently with four wins in their last five and with them matching 3rd place Rennes right up until the red card last week, they could give Marseille a scare here. The visitors have conceded five in their last three games and with Nantes giving them the run-around last week, we’re backing this Nîmes side to net. However, Marseille are generally a class outfit and have showcased that many times on the road this season. They have a good record over Nîmes and as a result we’re backing them to win 2-1.
