Nimes vs Montpellier Predictions
- Nimes have lost only one of their last five league matches
- Montpellier have failed to win in five of their last six away league games
- Montpellier have drawn each of their last two league matches
Nimes can bolster their survival hopes
Nimes are putting up a bold fight in their battle to avoid relegation in Ligue 1 and they can pick up another positive result at home to Montpellier.
Nimes currently sit third from bottom, occupying the Ligue 1 relegation playoff place, but recent performances have been far more encouraging than their lowly league position implies.
Pascal Plancque’s side have collected ten points from their last five league contests, with last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Nice putting an end to their four-game unbeaten run.
Another tough test is in store at home to Montpellier, but Nimes were 1-0 winners in the reverse fixture in October and they are operating much better now than back then.
Montpellier may be unbeaten in six Ligue 1 matches but they have won only once in six away league outings, dropping points on trips to Brest, Metz and Reims.
Nimes are unbeaten in three home league games and prior to that they had pushed title-chasing duo Lille (1-0) and Monaco (4-3) close in narrow one-goal defeats.
We predict another closely-fought encounter here and having shared the spoils in five of their 13 away games, Montpellier may have to settle for a point.
Correct-score punters can opt for the 1-1 draw, which was the scoreline in their last fixture at home to Lorient.
