Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Belgium have only managed one clean sheet in their last nine games and they are facing a North Macedonia side who have scored in 13 consecutive games. Both teams have scored in six of North Macedonia’s last eight home games and they have scored in all of those, so backing both teams to score looks a strong play in this qualifier.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Belgium are the clear favourites but North Macedonia are unbeaten in eight and they haven’t lost a home game since June 2023. North Macedonia have held visiting Italy and England sides to 1-1 draws since their last home loss and can repeat that feat against Belgium

North Macedonia vs Belgium Predictions

  • North Macedonia are unbeaten at home since June 2023 (W4, D3).
  • Belgium have just one clean sheet in their last nine overall.
  • Belgium have won just one of their last 10 games on foreign soil.

Belgium begin World Cup 2026 qualification bid

Belgium make a belated start to their World Cup 2026 qualification campaign with a tricky trip to North Macedonia on Friday.

The visitors are the clear favourites, but the Lynxes have proven to be a tough team to break down on home soil and they already have something to hold on to after taking four points from their opening two games.

I am slightly tempted by the 2/1 on offer for North Macedonia in the double chance market as Belgium have just one win in their last 10 on foreign soil and the hosts are unbeaten in seven at home – a run that includes draws with Italy and England. However, the more prudent play is the odds-against price on both teams to score.

Belgium have only managed one clean sheet in their last nine games and they are facing a North Macedonia side who have scored in 13 consecutive games. With the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and Loïs Openda in their squad it is hard to see Belgium drawing a blank either and both teams have scored in six of North Macedonia’s last eight home fixtures.

North Macedonia held visiting Italy and England to 1-1 draws since their last home loss and that result stands out here. The home side have scored exactly one goal in three of their last four games and Belgium have only scored more than once in one of their last five fixtures.
