Northern Ireland vs Lithuania Predictions
- Northern Ireland beat Lithuania 4-1 in the reverse fixture in September.
- The Green and White Army have drawn their last four competitive home games against better opponents.
- Lithuania have lost their last six away games, failing to score in five of them.
Northern Ireland can complete Lithuania double
Northern Ireland entertain Lithuania in World Cup qualifying on Friday evening in a basement battle in Group C.
Both teams can no longer qualify for the tournament and for the visitors this their final qualifier, while Northern Ireland have two games left.
Lithuania have picked up just three points from seven qualifiers so far and the Green and White Army have five to show from their six matches.
Northern Ireland’s only win so far came in a 4-1 success at Lithuania and they should be able to back that up with another victory over the Rinktine at Windsor Park on Friday in this dead rubber tie.
Ian Baraclough’s men are winless in their last nine home games but they have faced tough opponents and have drawn each of their last four competitive matches in Belfast. Those stalemates include points against Bulgaria, Switzerland and Romania – and those results suggest they can end their winless run at home by beating Lithuania.
The visitors have lost 10 of their last 11 games and have lost each of their last six on their travels, scoring just once in the process. Northern Ireland managed clean sheets at home against both Switzerland and Bulgaria and should be able to keep another shut-out against Lithuania, with a 3-0 win for the hosts our correct score selection here as they managed to beat their opponents by a three-goal margin in the reverse fixture.
