Norway vs San Marino Predictions

San Marino have long been the whipping boys of European international football and are yet to taste their first competitive international victory. However, there have been a few signs in recent times that they might be improving slightly and they’ve been involved in a few closer games in recent years.

They claimed a 0-0 draw at home to Estonia in their last qualifying campaign and came within minutes of picking up another point in Lithuania only to concede a late winner. They let in 2 or fewer goals in half of their Euro 2016 qualifiers, which is genuine progress by their standards. So far in World Cup qualifying they have been hampered by having had a player sent off in both matches but were only beaten 1-0 by Azerbaijan and 4-0 by Northern Ireland last week.

Norway aren’t in particularly great shape themselves so although a home win is the only realistic outcome here, it might be a bit closer than many are expecting. Norway have made a poor start to the campaign with a 3-0 home defeat to Germany and 1-0 loss in Azerbaijan last time out. That result is a real blow to their hopes of making Russia and they could be as good as over if they lose in the Czech Republic next month.

Norway should still dominate this game but having lost their last 4 internationals they won’t come in with much confidence. With San Marino looking a bit more organised and better at the back of late, consider backing San Marino +4.0 Asian Handicap at 2.200.
