Norwich vs Aston Villa Predictions
- Aston Villa have won three of their five games under Steven Gerrard, only losing to Manchester City and Liverpool.
- Norwich have lost ten of their 16 Premier League matches this season.
- Aston Villa have conceded in nine of their last ten league games.
Canaries improve under Smith
Norwich failed to make the most of a solid performance against Manchester United on Saturday, with the three points going to the visitors thanks to a 75th minute penalty and resigning the Canaries to back-to-back defeats.
Dean Smith has undoubtedly done wonders since arriving at Carrow Road, though. He has picked up five points from his five games in charge but things could be tough when he welcomes former-club Aston Villa on Tuesday.
Villa on the rise under Gerrard
Steven Gerrard has taken the reins at Villa Park since Smith’s sacking and, like his predecessor, has turned the form around at his new club. He lost on his return to Anfield at the weekend but has won three of his five games in charge, ending the run of five straight defeats that caused Smith’s departure.
Aston Villa’s only defeats since Gerrard’s arrival have been narrow losses against Premier League title contenders Manchester City and Liverpool and that’s helped to push them back towards the top half of the table.
Back the Villains for the win
Victories against Brighton, Crystal Palace and Leicester suggest that Villa can take all three points on Tuesday. They face a Norwich side that have lost ten of their 16 games this season and I’m backing the visitors to win here.
Aston Villa do still have issues at the back. They have conceded in nine of their last ten league matches and each of their last two victories have been by a 2-1 scoreline, so that’s my pick for a correct score prediction.
Norwich predicted lineup: Krul; Aarons, Kabak, Sorensen, Giannoulis; Lees-Melou, Gilmour, McLean; Cantwell, Sargent, Pukki
Aston Villa predicted lineup: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett; McGinn, Sanson, Luiz; Ramsey, Buendia, Watkins
- Nine of Aston Villa’s 16 matches in the league this season have seen both teams score
- Nine of Villa’s last 13 league games have produced over 2.5 goals
