Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Forest have only won three of their seven European games this term, and they’ve recorded only two wins across their last nine in all competitions. The hosts have drawn two of their last four, and they face a Ferencvaros side who are unbeaten in the Europa League so far.

Nottingham Forest vs Ferencvarosi TC Predictions

  • Forest have faced 4.66 Expected Goals across their last three matches
  • BTTS has landed in 10 of 13 Eurppean games for Ferencvaros dating back to the summer qualifiers
  • Both teams have scored in six of the visitors’ seven Europa League games this season

Forest’s European path remains uncertain

Nottingham Forest’s road to the Europa League final in Istanbul could get a lot tougher without a victory over unbeaten Ferencvaros in Thursday’s League Phase finale.

Sean Dyche’s side have a remote hope of sneaking into the top eight, but the 16th-placed side look bound for the play-off round. Forest are at risk of falling down the standings, which could leave them unseeded, potentially setting them up for a difficult clash against Real Betis, Porto, or even a rematch with Thursday’s opponents.

Ferencvaros sit seventh, having won four of their first seven League Phase games. The Hungarian side, coached by former Tottenham and Liverpool forward Robbie Keane, have scored 12 goals in those seven games, finding the net at least once in every game.

Forest boast the best underlying numbers in the competition so far, but they haven’t been watertight of late. Since their 3-3 draw with Wrexham in the FA Cup, they’ve faced 4.66 Expected Goals across four matches.

The hosts should benefit from the return to form of Igor Jesus, who has scored in two of his last three games. The Brazilian has four goals in his five European appearances this term.

This is a must-win game for the visitors, who are only a point clear of ninth. However, six of their seven Europa League games have finished with both teams scoring, as have 10 of their 13 European games dating back to July’s qualifiers.
