Liverpool and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Nottingham Forest have lost six of their last eight home league games while Liverpool have won five of their last six Premier League away contests. Both teams have scored in 10 of the Reds’ 13 away trips in the league and four of Forest’s last five home league fixtures.

Liverpool 2-1

Reason for tip

Forest have scored in 11 of their 13 home league games this season, but Liverpool have only once conceded more than one away goal in the league since October – and that was to Arsenal. Liverpool have scored two or more goals in five of their last six away league games at an average of 2.5 per game.

Cody Gakpo To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Cody Gakpo has taken on the scoring mantle for Liverpool in the absence of Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota. The Dutchman has scored in his last two Premier League appearances and fired off eight shots in total – the most in a single game since he joined Liverpool – in the 4-1 win over Luton last week.

Klopp’s Kop kids can come out on top

Liverpool should have enough quality to open up a four-point gap at the top of the Premier League by beating a slumping Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday.

The Reds rode their luck in the first half of Wednesday’s FA Cup win over Southampton, but finished with a spring in their step and look well-placed to add more silverware to the Carabao Cup they clinched at Wembley last Sunday.

The way that Jurgen Klopp’s squad has coped without more than half of their best starting XI in recent weeks has been remarkable. The German coach has given youth its chance in a big way and been rewarded by some mature displays from inexperienced players thrust into the spotlight.

Trio could be back in Liverpool’s squad

No-one is saying “you can’t win anything with kids” anymore, but the returns of a few senior players like Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai would not go amiss as the Reds prepare to face Manchester City next weekend.

The trio are expected to be back in the squad and their presence should only enhance the belief of the others that three points is there for the taking here. Liverpool have won five of their last six Premier League away games — the only blemish on that record coming at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

Klopp’s men won four of the other five by two or more goals and that might be possible again if Forest have an off day.

Both teams to score beckons

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side need to score the first goal, which they did en route to beating Manchester United and West Ham, to have any chance of success. Liverpool have conceded the opener in eight of their 13 away games this term, so it is not beyond the realms of possibility either.

Forest have notched in 11 of their 13 home league games this season — and another statistic which offers encouragement to those considering a both teams to score bet is that BTTS has landed in 10 of Liverpool’s 13 away trips.

Although back-up keeper Caoimhin Kelleher has kept back-to-back clean sheets, he needed to pull off some impressive saves in those cup games, but Liverpool’s overall strength and momentum is such that an away win appears highly likely to follow whether he is kept busy or not.
