Nottingham Forest vs Reading Predictions

  • Nottingham Forest have scored at least two goals in six of their last seven home league games.
  • Reading have conceded at least twice in five of their last six away Championship contests.
  • Forest have won six of their last nine home Championship games while Reading have lost seven of their last 11 away league games.
  • Ryan Yates has scored three goals in his last five appearances.

Forest too short given proximity to Liverpool tie

Nottingham Forest have the scope to hit multiple goals against a defensively suspect Reading team at the City Ground this weekend. Steve Cooper’s side have scored 15 goals in their last six home games and will be licking their lips at the prospect of going up against a team that have shipped a Championship-high 17 across their last eight.

The hosts are rated hot favourites for the contest at around 4/7 and really should win, but the looming FA Cup quarter-final with Liverpool has us wondering if any of Forest’s focus might wander in that direction. If it does, then they may not be the good thing that the oddsmakers believe.

Steve Cooper’s side lost their league games that directly preceded both their third round win over Arsenal and fourth round demolition of Leicester, although we are fully aware that the Reds have another home game against QPR before Liverpool arrive at the City Ground. It’s still a bit of a trap game in a sense and one we are prepared to swerve in match result betting.

Hosts have found the right formula for goals

However, Forest’s improved scoring form is well worth noting. The Tricky Trees scored eight goals in their first nine home games of the season, but have hit upon a formula that has produced 24 in 13 since. It supports a recommendation of Forest to score at least twice in this fixture and tallies with Reading having conceded at least twice in five of their last six away games.

Despite our reservations about Forest’s match result price, we are still backing a 2-1 home success in correct score markets that has previously landed in a third of the hosts’ last nine at the City Ground.
