Nottingham Forest vs Stoke City Predictions
- Only three teams have scored fewer goals in the Championship this season than Nottingham Forest (35).
- Stoke have failed to score in four of their last six matches on the road.
- Under 2.5 goals have been scored in six of the last nine meetings between these two sides.
City Ground set for lack of goals
It is easy to see why Nottingham Forest have spent much of the season fighting against relegation, as they are the fourth lowest scorers in the Championship, netting just 35 times in 43 games to date.
That suggests that Chris Hughton’s side should still be in danger of relegation, but the reason they are not is because of their strong defence, as they have conceded less than a goal a game in the league this season.
Indeed, only four teams have conceded fewer goals in the Championship this term than Forest and they all sit in the top-five of the standings.
Stoke have spent much of the campaign in mid-table and a run of one point from four games suggests their season may be petering out.
Michael O’Neill’s side have also failed to score in four of their last six away matches, while they have only registered one victory on their travels since early December.
This is a fixture that does not tend to yield a lot of goals, with six of the last nine clashes having seen under 2.5 scored, and we are predicting more of the same on Saturday.
Our overall prediction is for Forest to edge the match 1-0, which reflects their impressive defensive record, as well as Stoke’s apparent meander towards the end of the season.
