Niko Kovac’s Borussia Dortmund side should be backed to get a win at home to Kasper Hjulmand’s Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. Dortmund have been the winners in two Bundesliga home games in a row.

Both teams have won more games than they’ve lost this season, but Borussia Dortmund are second in the league, four places and 15 points ahead of sixth-placed Bayer Leverkusen. Dortmund have 19 wins and two defeats, while Leverkusen have 14 wins and seven losses.

Borussia Dortmund kept up their recent winning trend with a 2-0 victory away at Stuttgart last weekend, despite having just 32.7% possession. Julian Brandt put his side ahead in the 90th minute before Karim Adeyemi doubled their lead. This was expected to be a close match according to the pre-game betting, but Dortmund were comfortable winners at odds of 13/8. They have now won 17 of the 22 games in which they’ve scored first this season (77%).

The hosts have been impressive defensively at home this season, conceding just 13 goals in 14 Bundesliga games – an average of 0.93 goals per game.

A narrow 1-0 victory for Borussia Dortmund looks the most likely outcome. Nine of their Bundesliga wins this season have come by a single goal, and Bayer Leverkusen’s last two defeats have both ended 1-0.
