Borussia Dortmund vs Bayer Leverkusen Predictions
It doesn’t look like any team can stop Borussia Dortmund at the moment. They have come roaring out of the blocks this season with a number of huge victories in both the Bundesliga and the Europa League.
After qualifying to the Europa League group stages through an 11-5 aggregate win over Odd, they kicked off the competition proper with a 2-1 win over Krasnodar on Thursday.
Krasnodar did better than any other team against the Germans this season, taking an early lead against the overwhelming favourites. It took a 92nd minute winner from Joo-Ho-Park to get the victory.
Borussia Dortmund have won all of their eight fixtures in all competitions since the start of the Bundesliga season, and they have scored a stupid amount of goals on the way.
Their goals tally stands at 30 in their last eight games, and attacking trio Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Marco Reus already have ten Bundesliga goals between them.
This perfect record leaves them at the top of the Bundesliga, tied on points with Bayern Munich but holding a greater goal difference.
Bayer Leverkusen were also involved in European action this week, with their Champions League group stage opening match seeing them win 4-1 against BATE.
This followed back to back Bundesliga defeats to Bayern Munich and Darmstadt, which in turn followed back to back victories in the league against Hoffenheim and Hannover.
They also managed to beat Lazio on aggregate in the Champions League playoffs, which illustrates how inconsistent they have been so far this season. Beating the likes of Lazio and then losing at home to Darmstadt doesn’t really make sense.
Borussia Dortmund have only picked up two points in their last four games against Leverkusen, but I think they’ll get the win on Sunday.
Borussia Dortmund have seen over 2.5 goals scored in all of their eight fixtures this season, whilst Leverkusen have only participated in three games of their nine with under 2.5 goals. Odds of 8/13 for Over 2.5 goals offer some value, but I think more value lies in a Borussia Dortmund win at 8/11. Although if you’re feeling a little riskier I’d go for a combination of the two at odds of 7/5.
