Orgryte vs AFC Eskilstuna Predictions
The Monday night game in the Swedish Superettan sees two sides who have had strange old seasons meet. Orgryte made a fine start to the campaign but headed into the summer break in miserable form and it’ll be interesting to see how they respond here. AFC Eskilstuna meanwhile haven’t been great in the final third but they’ve been grinding out results and look the more likely promotion challengers.
Both sides are sitting in the top six with AFC two points and two places better off. They’ve suffered just one defeat in their last 13 matches and have established themselves as one of the toughest sides to beat in the division. There have been a few too many draws for their fans’ liking though with 5 of their last 9 finishing all square, a big reason why they still have ground to make up on the automatic promotion places.
They will fancy they can at least get a result here. The wheels really seemed to come off Orgryte’s strong promotion push just before the break. They’ve taken just 3 points from their last 6 league games and it’s just 1 win in 8 for them now overall. They could only draw a friendly against lower league opponents last week and in truth do little to justify their favourites tag here, against a side that has only lost twice all season. Backing AFC Eskilstuna Double Chance could therefore be well worth a flutter.
It’s not a game that is likely to produce many goals though. AFC Eskilstuna are a pretty defensive outfit and tend to focus on keeping things tight at their own end. With only 0.47 goals per game conceded, they have by far the best defensive record in the division and that has contributed to a huge 86% of their away games producing under 2.5 goals.
These sides’ most recent league outing was against each other and it finished 0-0 and it would be a surprise to see a repeat here. Örgryte matches have been more open overall but their friendly last week also finished goalless and it seems like they may have switched their focus to trying to tighten things up at the back in their efforts to stop the rot.
Therefore we have reason to expect another low-scoring game between this pair here and backing Under 2.5 Goals also appeals.
