Club Brugge to Win

Reason for tip

Brugge are huge outsiders here, but less than 12 months ago they topped a Champions League group which contained Porto, Bayern Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid. the visitors are in incredible form, winning each of their last five games and scoring at least five times in each of their last four. They’ve won three of four games in Europe this term and Osasuna return to continental competition for the first time since 2007.

Club Brugge 3-1

Reason for tip

Brugge are in incredible scoring form, but they have conceded in their last three matches in Europe. The hosts lost at home by two goals at the weekend so back the Belgian side to secure a 3-1 victory in this trip.

Osasuna vs Club Brugge Predictions

  • Brugge have won their last five games, scoring at least five goals in each of their last four
  • The visitors made the last 16 of the Champions League last term
  • Osasuna have little European experience and lost 2-0 at home at the weekend

Osasuna make European return

After three years in midtable in La Liga, Osasuna finished seventh last term to secure a return to European football. The Spanish side last played in Europe in 2007, losing in the UEFA Cup semis to Sevilla. This is just the third time in the 21st century – and first time in 16 years – that Osasuna have made it into Europe.

The Spanish side looked set to be ineligible for much of the summer after a run-in with UEFA, but they were reinstated to the competition and now Club Brugge stand between them and a place in the group stage.

The Belgian side are underdogs, but after a storming start they can shock Osasuna in this first leg.

Brugge a side to fear

The visitors have been in fantastic form this term, winning each of their last five games. They thrashed RWDM 7-1 in the league at the weekend and they’ve now scored at least five goals in each of their last four matches.

In the Conference League, Brugge have won three of their four games, falling to a loss to AGF after taking a 3-0 lead in the first leg. They beat KA 5-1 home and away in the last round, so don’t expect them to hold back in this trip.

After all, earlier this year Brugge played in a Champions League last 16 tie after tipping a group which contained Porto, Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid. Osasuna lost at home to Athletic Bilbao at the weekend and with little European experience, Brugge are fantastic value for a first-leg win.
