Osasuna can bounce back

Osasuna had hopes of a return to Europe not too long ago, but a poor run has sent them spiralling into the bottom half. The hosts have taken just four points from their last eight, which sees them enter Tuesday’s encounter with 15th-placed Mallorca as razor-thin favourites.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom for the hosts. In fact, they turned in an encouraging performance at the weekend without ending their winless streak. Osasunsa went to fifth-placed Athletic Bilbao and took a 2-0 lead, before later being pegged back.

However, taking that kind of lead has to be encouraging ahead of a home clash against a Mallorca side who have lost nine of their 17 away trips this term, winning just once on the road. The away side haven’t won across their last 14 La Liga away assignments, while Osasuna have won six of nine home meetings with sides 10th and below.

While Osasuna are on a bad run, their last three at home have come against Real Madrid, Valencia and Real Betis. Before that they had won five of six at home, so they look good to take all three points at their own ground.
