Reasoning
Osasuna vs Villarreal Predictions
- Both teams have scored in Osasuna’s last three games
- At least three goals have been scored in six of Osasuna’s last nine matches
- Both teams have scored with over 2.5 goals in five of Villarreal’s last eight away league matches
- Alexander Sorloth has scored nine goals in his last six appearances for Villarreal, including four against Real Madrid last week
Meeting of duo that bruised Madrid clubs
Two teams that produced surprising displays against the Madrid clubs last weekend, Osasuna and Villarreal, face off at El Sadar in Saturday’s final round of La Liga fixtures.
Los Rojillos rolled over Atletico 4-1 at Civitas Metropolitano to ensure Diego Simeone’s side will finish outside the top three for the first time since the Argentine took charge for his first full season. Jagoba Arrasate’s side thoroughly deserved their win as Atletico again showed the defensive lapses that have dogged their campaign.
Meanwhile, Villarreal came back from 4-1 down to claim an unlikely home point against champions Real Madrid, who rested all but one of their likely Champions League Final starters again.
Sorloth’s scoring streak is worth riding
Alexander Sorloth bagged all four of the Yellow Submarines’ goals in a 17-minute purple patch either side of half-time, and appears unable to miss at the moment – just like his predecessor Nicolas Jackson had been late in last season’s campaign.
The ex-Crystal Palace striker now has 23 La Liga goals for the campaign and goes into the final round of fixtures two goals clear of Girona’s Artem Dovbyk in the race to seal the Pichichi, so he will be keen to add more in Pamplona.
Villarreal have scored as many goals on the road (18) as they have done at the Ceramica across their last eight home and eight away fixtures, so there is no reason to suspect this clash will not see plenty of goalmouth action. Marcelino’s men have won three of their last five away games, so could edge this, but with Osasuna’s form a little unpredictable at the moment, it may be best to back both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.
