Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Fewer than three goals have been scored in Oxford’s last two home League One contests and also in Peterborough’s last two away league matches. The fact that both teams have had equal rest, unlike last time they met when Oxford won 5-0, should ensure a tighter contest.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

It would be a surprise to see Peterborough concede a hatful again, given they won four of their last six away league matches and kept two clean sheets along the way. A low-scoring draw could be the end result here with the U’s rearguard capable of restricting a potent Posh attack to one goal.

Closer clash on the cards at Kassam

Oxford and Peterborough look closely matched ahead of Saturday’s League One play-off semi-final first leg at The Kassam Stadium.

The U’s finished one place and seven points behind the Posh in the regular season but had much the better of their last meeting – a 5-0 victory meted out just three weeks ago.

However, as Darren Ferguson has been quick to point out, the circumstances around that match were different as Oxford had not played in seven days while Peterborough had come through two matches in the six days leading up to their trip west.

U’s duo to feature but Poku may miss out

Oxford won that game without two of their better players, Cameron Brannigan and Elliott Moore, in their ranks and both should be in Des Buckingham’s starting line-up this weekend. There is a doubt around the fitness of Peterborough dangerman Kwame Poku, who claimed 11 goals and seven assists during the regular League One campaign, but missed the final three games of the season with an ankle injury.

Peterborough should still be very competitive in this clash and it would be a surprise to see them concede a hatful again, given they won four of their last six away league matches and kept two clean sheets along the way.

A low-scoring draw could be the end result here with Oxford’s defence capable of restricting Peterborough’s high-powered attack to one goal.
