PAOK vs Qabala Predictions
These are the bottom two sides in the group and there is a good chance that that is how it will finish. Neither can catch group leaders Borussia Dortmund, while if the Germans lose in Krasnodar in the early kick-off, both sides will be eliminated before a ball is kicked in this match.
A win for Dortmund would liven this up though and would mean that both sides would still be in the hunt for the last 32. The Germans comfortably beat Qabala home and away but against the other sides, the team from Azerbaijan have been very competitive.
They held PAOK to a 0-0 draw in the opening game in Baku and were only beaten 2-1 in Russia by Krasnodar and were within 6 minutes of securing a point. They knocked out Panathinaikos, a supposedly stronger Greek side than PAOK in the play-off round and in truth have already achieved an enormous amount in Europe this season for a club of their stature.
Although they haven’t won any of their last 7 matches in all competitions, they have drawn over half of them and should be able to make a match of this against a PAOK side that are also out of form.
The Greeks haven’t won any of their 4 matches in November and are also yet to win in the Europa League group stage. The pressure will be on them as the hosts to take the game to Qabala but given they’ve only scored twice in 4 matches so far in Europe, they may find that difficult against reasonably well-organised opposition. Therefore the value here surely lies with backing Qabala when starting with +1.5 Asian Handicap at 4/5.
Although they have been competitive, perhaps they are still lacking a bit of top level experience and they have let themselves down slightly at crucial moments. There are unlikely to be many goals in this game but if there is one, then the home side are still the most likely scorers and a 1-0 win for PAOK, might be worth backing at 6/1.
