Partick Thistle vs Rangers Predictions
Partick Thistle fans have seen their side descend back into poor form again recently, with their 2-0 loss at Motherwell last weekend making it back to back defeats and resigning the four match unbeaten streak prior to that to memory alone.
Their back to back wins in October was a refreshing break for them, but they have still only won two of their last 13 in all competitions and have lost seven times during this period, leaving them way down in 11th position in the table. Partick Thistle are now just a point off the bottom spot.
The hosts’ main issue is a combination of lackluster defence and their forwards simply failing to perform. Their top two scorers, Chris Erskine and Liam Lindsay, are predominantly midfield players and striker Kris Doolan has just two goals to his name in 12 appearances this season.
In fairness, Rangers aren’t much better in this respect, but with an overall advantage in quality it means that more of their players can chip in. Andy Halliday, Harry Forester, Joe Garner, and Kenny Miller all have three league goals this season and each have scored once in their last five outings. As far as odds are concerned I’d say Andy Halliday is the best bet for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
Rangers unbeaten streak continued last weekend with a last gasp winner at home to Dundee. This made it four games unbeaten in all competitions and six in a row in the Premiership, four of which have ended in victory.
In all honesty though it hasn’t been the sort of return to the top flight that Rangers fans will have hoped for. They have only won two of their away days this season and find themselves 11 points off arch rivals Celtic already.
With neither team particularly impressing going forward I think this could be a low scoring match. Four of Partick Thistle’s seven home games have seen fewer than three goals in total and Rangers have only scored more than one goal in one of their six away days. Odds of 19/20 for Under 2.5 Goals look good value for money, and that’s what I’m backing along with a 1-0 win for Rangers at 13/2 for my correct score predictions.
