Perth Glory managed to get out of their winless streak in emphatic fashion on Sunday when they hammered Newcastle Jets 6-1.

This was their first win in six matches in the Hyundai A-League, with three of their preceding five matches ending all square.

However, this represents quite a large upturn in form. Perth Glory have now won three, drawn three, and lost two of their last eight matches. Prior to this they have lost seven of their opening ten matches in all competitions and only won twice.

Melbourne Victory haven’t had the title defence they had hoped for. A run of four defeats in a row partway through the season looked to have seriously maimed their defence, but poor form at the top of the table has allowed them to close the gap again.

The Hyundai A-League champions come into this game unbeaten in five matches, with three of those being wins. This includes impressive wins over Sydney FC and Brisbane Roar.

This leaves Melbourne Victory 4^th in the A-League table, but they are only three points adrift of league leaders Western Sydney Wanderers.

All of those four defeats in a row that Melbourne Victory suffered were away from home, and their record on the road this season is less than impressive. They have won one, drawn one, and lost four of their last six matches.

Meanwhile, Perth Glory are proving rather difficult to beat at home with a record of one defeat, three draws, and four wins in their last eight matches in Perth.

Taking into account their confidence boosting 6-1 thrashing of Newcastle Jets last weekend as well, I think this makes odds of 3/4 for a Perth Glory Win or Draw Double Chance excellent value. I’m going for a 1-1 correct score prediction at 6/1 as well.
