Pescara vs Sassuolo Predictions

Just as things started to look up for Sassuolo, they went and blew a straightforward game at home to a side from the second division. Their midweek loss to Cesena saw the Neroverdi crash out of the Coppa Italia, meaning all they have left to play for this season is Serie A survival. If you look at that on the basis of their last result, there have to be questions about just how well prepared they are to avoid the drop.

Sassuolo are currently 11 points clear of the bottom three, and they have an excellent opportunity to extend that when they travel to bottom side Pescara. Although, the Neroverdi are the only side to fail to take a point out of a meeting with the Delfini this season. This weekend’s hosts lost 2-1 in their trip to MAPEI Stadium, but that result was void as Sassuolo brought on an unregistered player from the bench.

That win in August had put Sassuolo top of Serie A early on, but they’re now 16th after losing those points and struggling to earn them back. The Neroverdi have crashed out of both Europe and the cup, and there’s little going for them ahead of this meeting. They have managed to find the net in every away game so far, which is a run that should continue at the Stadio Adriatico on Sunday.

Pescara have kept clean sheets in just 11% of their home outings so far, while they’ve picked up just four points from their matches here. The Delfini have also conceded 1.78 goals per game at home. Sassuolo have an even worse defensive record ahead of this clash, as they’ve let in 2.2 goals per outing on their travels. They’ve managed to record just one away clean sheet all season, picking up just five points from their 10 trips away from the MAPEI.

This game represents a chance for Pescara, maybe they can finally earn three points in a game this season. They may not be prolific scorers at home, but they did find the net at Sassuolo in that void result. They should be able to find the net here too, given how poor the Neroverdi have been at the back.

Sassuolo’s scoring record away and poor defending has seen them involved in some high scoring ties. They’ve seen 70% of their away trips go over 2.5 goals. Meanwhile, 58% of Pescara’s matches have seen three or more scored, including three of their last four in the league. After the Neroverdi conceded twice at home to a low scoring Serie B team, they should have some trouble here as well. That has us backing another high scoring encounter, with over 2.5 goals our tip at 17/20 with bet365.
