Peterborough vs Morecambe Predictions
- Peterborough United began their League One campaign with a 3-2 win at Cheltenham Town, making it four wins from their last six league matches.
- Furthermore, four of the hosts’ last six competitive games have contained over 2.5 goals.
- Morecambe had League One’s worst defensive record last season, conceding 88 goals, 53 of them on the road.
Peterborough set to entertain once more
Having begun their League One campaign with a thrilling 3-2 success over Cheltenham Town, Grant McCann’s Peterborough United look set to challenge for an immediate return to the second tier. After scoring 83 goals during their last season at this level, the Posh have been tipped to entertain again this term, and will be looking forward to the visit of a porous Morecambe side.
Indeed, four of the hosts’ last six league matches have seen over 2.5 goals, with the Posh winning four of those contests despite their relegation from the Championship. McCann’s team only lost three of their final nine games last term, and the signing of David Ajiboye adds to their plethora of attacking options, with the likes of Jonson Clarke-Harris and Jack Marriot also set to star in League One.
Morecambe, then, appear the ideal opponents for McCann’s side, having conceded a massive 88 League One goals last term – the highest tally in the division. The Shrimps survived in the third tier after Derek Adams’ February return, but managed just three wins in their 23 road matches, conceding 53 goals in those contests, and look likely to struggle again in 2022-23.
Posh to win goalfest
Peterborough’s attacking strength and Morecambe’s dreadful rearguard makes the hosts worth backing to win a contest featuring over 2.5 goals on Saturday – 10 of their last 11 victories contained a minimum of three goals.
Meanwhile, a 3-1 triumph for the Posh looks a strong correct score prediction.
