Philadelphia Union vs LA Galaxy Betting Tips & Predictions

Philadelphia Union have made a good start to this MLS campaign after a disappointing 9th place finish in the Eastern Conference last term. They began with an expected loss against FC Dallas, but since then they have looked an impressive outfit.

Their 1-1 draw with San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday saw Chris Pontius bag his 4th goal of the season and took Philadelphia Union’s record to four wins, two defeats, and one draw in the seven matches since their opening day defeat.

This puts Philadelphia Union in a very respectable 3rd place in the MLS Eastern Conference. They are just two points off leaders Montreal Impact and have one game in hand on Toronto FC in 2nd and two in hand over Montreal Impact. They also have at least one game in hand on all but one of the teams below them.

LA Galaxy find themselves occupying 2nd position in the MLS Western Conference, with their return of 18 points from their opening nine games being a very good return. They are just two adrift of leaders Colorado Rapids and have a game in hand, and they also have games in hand on most of the teams below them.

They enjoyed another very impressive 4-2 thrashing of New England Revolution on Sunday which extended their unbeaten streak to seven MLS matches. They have won four and drawn three of these games.

LA Galaxy are showing some incredible goalscoring form when they’re winning matches. Their four failures to win this season have yielded just two goals for them, but when they’ve been on the winning side they have scored an average of four goals per game.

Unfortunately for the visitors, it’s away from home where they tend to struggle. They have only won one of their four matches on the road this season and have failed to score in two of them. Their singular win was against the out of form Houston Dynamo as well. Philadelphia Union, on the other hand, have won three of their four home games and drawn the other one, a statistic which makes them favourites for this game.
