Philadelphia Union vs Orlando City Predictions

  • Philadephia Union have drawn two of their last five MLS home games, both 1-1.
  • Orlando City have drawn three of their last five MLS away contests, all 1-1.
  • Orlando City are without two key starters because of suspension.

Lions may look for a draw from Union clash

Philadelphia Union suffered their first home MLS defeat in four months a couple of weeks ago when Eastern Conference leaders left Subaru Park with a 1-0 victory.

Union then lost 2-0 to Club America in the Concacaf Champions League on Wednesday to make it back-to-back home reverses, so the visit of Orlando City this weekend is not the foregone conclusion it could have been a few weeks ago.

Union have been in a slow decline for about a month with head coach Jim Curtin recently admitting that their packed schedule has begun to take a toll on everyone involved.

They catch a small break after being knocked out by the Mexican club – as they now face a battle to get back into the playoff positions – because Orlando City aren’t in the best shape either.

The Lions have lost their last two MLS matches and head coach Oscar Pareja had to apologhise to fans after an ill-disciplined 4-2 home defeat to Montreal that saw his team reduced to nine men.

Creative force Nani and central midfielder Andres Perea will sit out the trip to Philly with suspension and their absences could pressure Pareja into battening down the hatches.

The last two Philadelphia ‘home’ meetings between these two sides have finished as score draws, although one was played in Florida, but we cannot be sure that both teams will score on Saturday.

Union have scored just three goals in their last six games, four of which were at home, while Orlando have bagged three in their last five road trips.

Based on that we’ll be backing 0-0 in the correct score market.
