Plymouth Argyle moved up one spot in the League One table thanks to a win last weekend, but remain in the relegation places and a point from safety. Despite losing 3-0 in their last league game, visitors Accrington sit eight points and seven above their hosts Plymouth and will be confident of returning to winning ways on Saturday.

Last time out Plymouth won just their second away game of the campaign when they defeated Rochdale 2-1 at the Crown Oil Arena. A tight and tense first half saw both sides produce very little in the final third and the scoreline remain goalless, but despite being under the cosh for the majority of the match Plymouth managed to take the lead in the seventy-third minute through Jamaican midfielder Grant. The visitors were only ahead for three minutes before Rochdale’s Inman levelled the scores, but Plymouth responded well and won the game in the eightieth minute thanks to an own goal from the unfortunate Perkins.

Southend were clinical in front of goal when they played host to Accrington last weekend, where despite having more corners, more shots, and the lion’s share of the overall possession, the visitors ended up being beaten 3-0. Two goals in the space of four first half minutes thrust Southend into the driving seat against Accrington, with Mantom scoring the opener and teammate Cox quickly following up with another to make it 2-0 at the break. Robinson added a third goal during the second forty-five to end any faint hopes of an Accrington comeback, leaving the visitors with nothing to show for their efforts.

The last time Plymouth and Accrington met was back in April 2017 where a single goal proved enough for the visitors to claim all three points. Former Barnsley midfielder Clark scored after just eight minutes to put Accrington 1-0 up at Home Park, and despite having 57% of the possession, more shots, and more corners than their guests, Plymouth lost the game to that early strike.

Plymouth Argyle head into Saturday’s game as the slight form favourites after they picked up two wins, one draw, and three defeats from their last six matches. Accrington have lost four and won two of their last six, but have outperformed their hosts so far this season. Ladapo top scores for Plymouth this season with eleven goals in League One, and if he keeps up the good work then this weekends hosts should escape relegation. McConville has seven and Kee has six league goals for Accrington, with the two forming a good partnership in the Accrington team this season.

We’re confident that Accrington will win on Saturday, and have backed the final scoreline to once against finish 1-0. Accrington have won two of the last three meetings between the two pair, and five of the last six encounters have ended in the same 1-0 scoreline. Accrington have won two of their last three matches in league and cup, while Plymouth have failed to win either of their last two home games in league and cup. Accrington have eight more points and sit seven places above Plymouth in the League One table, and we believe that gap will be increased on Saturday.
