Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both sides have struggled defensively, with Plymouth failing to keep a home clean sheet in 11 games and Derby conceding in their last seven away matches. Goals at both ends look likely.

Derby 2-1

Reason for tip

Derby are chasing a third straight win and have claimed three of their nine league victories this season by a 2-1 scoreline. Plymouth’s defensive issues could see them fall short again.

Plymouth Argyle vs Derby Predictions

Goals at both ends expected at Home Park

Both teams can find the net when Plymouth host Derby at Home Park on Saturday.

Derby are two places above Plymouth in the table, but both teams are struggling. The hosts are bottom with six wins and 18 defeats after 36 games, while Derby have nine wins and 20 reverses.

Plymouth have not won in five Championship games and have lost their last two, while Derby are going for a third successive win. However, seven of Derby’s last nine away games in the Championship have seen them beaten.

Both defences have been struggling. Plymouth have gone 11 home games without keeping a clean sheet and no team has conceded more goals in the Championship this season than their 73. Derby have shipped goals in each of their last seven away games.

Both teams had scored by the break the last time these two met in the Championship in November, and Derby will fancy their chances of scoring against a Plymouth defence that has struggled this season. However, Plymouth have been in some low-scoring games of late – four of the last five have gone under 2.5 goals – but there were six goals in their clash with Millwall last month, when they won 5-1.

Both managers have changed since the last head-to-head. Plymouth are now managed by Miron Muslic, who has yet to oversee a league clean sheet in his first 12 games in charge, while Derby are under John Eustace, who has guided them to an average of just 1.2 points per game so far.

The 2-1 away win for Derby looks like a decent correct-score bet. Of Derby’s nine league wins this season, three were by a 2-1 scoreline, and there have been over 2.5 goals in 19 of Plymouth’s 36 Championship games.
