Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Poland have scored in all but one of their last eight internationals, but they’ve been a little suspect defensively of late. They shipped three goals in a loss at Moldova and they conceded in all their home Nations League games and in three of their four group games in 2022 World Cup qualifying.

Poland 2-1

Reason for tip

Poland have won their last four home games, with three of those victories coming by a single goal. They host a Moldova side who have lost three of their last five clashes with Poland, so back a 2-1 win.

Ion Nicolaescu To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Nicolaescu has scored in six of his last 11 internationals, finding the net in the clash with Sweden earlier this week. He scored twice in the win at home to Poland and he can add to that with a strike this weekend.

Poland vs Moldova Predictions

  • Poland have scored in seven of their last eight games
  • Moldova have seen both teams score in three of their last four
  • Moldova won 3-2 in the reverse meeting, with Nicolaescu scoring twice

Moldova’s hopes on the line

The race to make it out of Group E looks incredibly tight, with Albania making good headway with a four-point cushion at the top. That’s left three sides split by just a point in the running for second, including Poland and Moldova.

Moldova sit fourth, a point shy of second-placed Poland. The Czech Republic, sat in third, head to Poland in November in a massive showdown which could secure second. However, Moldova go into this trip knowing that they need a result to stay in the running for second.

Back goals with hosts shaky

Poland have won their opening two home games to nil, but clean sheets haven’t been reliable for them of late. They conceded in each of their home games in the last round of Nations League games, while they managed one clean sheet at home across their group games in World Cup qualifying.

Moldova were able to secure a 3-2 win in the last meeting between these two sides, with Ian Nicolaescu netting twice in that win. The Heerenveen man has scored in six of his last 11 matches for Moldova, including their meeting with Sweden earlier this week. Moldova have scored in four straight games and Nicolaescu is a big part of that, so back him to get a goal for the visitors.

Poland have scored in all bar one of their last eight games, so back them to strike against a Moldova side who have seen both teams score in three of their last four.
