      Nigeria to Win

      Reason for tip

Nigeria have responded well to missing out on the World Cup, as they are unbeaten in 11 matches in regulation time and they should prove too strong for an experimental Poland team that lost the only other time these two nations faced off.

      Nigeria 1-0

      Reason for tip

Nigeria have kept six clean-sheets in their last eight games and are capable of edging past an understrength Poland in Warsaw.  The only other meeting between these two sides ended in a 1-0 victory for the Super Eagles on Polish soil in March 2018.

      Poland adopting experimental approach

Poland and Nigeria are two of the biggest nations that will be missing from this summer’s World Cup but they will meet in a high-profile friendly on Wednesday.

The Poles missed out on a third-successive World Cup after losing their play-off final against Sweden and they played their first match since suffering that heartache on Sunday, going down 2-0 on home soil against Ukraine.

Head coach Jan Urban has called up an experimental squad for this international break, with several uncapped players involved, but Robert Lewandowski is available and will be looking to add to his record haul of 89 Poland goals.

Super Eagles have found their form

Nigeria also suffered play-off heartache in their bid to reach the World Cup, losing on penalties to DR Congo, but they have responded well to that setback, as they are unbeaten in 11 matches in 90 minutes, a run that includes them reaching the semi-finals of the recent AFCON.

The Super Eagles have beaten Zimbabwe and Jamaica without conceding during this international break to win the Unity Cup, two of six clean-sheets they have kept across their last eight matches.

The only previous meeting between these two sides ended in a 1-0 victory for Nigeria in 2018 and against an understrength Poland team, Eric Chelle’s visitors can secure a similar result at the PGE Narodowy in Warsaw.
