Port Vale vs Bury Predictions
It has been a pretty miserable start to the season for Port Vale as their pre-season hopes of challenging for a return to League One has taken a serious hit. However, Vale are far from out of the running and if they are able to claim all three points against in form Bury, then they know they will be able to take a step closer to the top end of the table.
Port Vale secured their second good away result in a row following last weekend’s win at Oldham with a 0-0 draw at Stevenage on Tuesday. A lack of goals is something which has plagued the side since the opening day and Vale come into this fixture having scored an average of less than a goal per game. The news that experienced hitman Tom Pope’s injury woes may be coming to an end will be a welcome relief to the hosts, but the striker’s time will no doubt have to be managed as he nurses his way back to full sharpness.
Bury extended their unbeaten run to six league matches on Tuesday night as they drew 1-1 at home to fourth-placed Newport County. Despite their relegation at the end of last season, the visitors have started the season in a positive manner and with 15 games played, they have a good return of 23 points on the board. Bury’s success has been built on the back of a good offensive unit and they are among the highest scorers in the division, but they will know that they will have to improve in this area when on their travels if they are to accomplish their goals.
Given that the hosts struggle to find the back of the net on a regular basis and come into this match in pretty poor form in the league, it is hard to imagine how they will be able to earn a positive result. This, combined with the fact that Bury are looking like one of the best sides in League Two over the last few matches, means that we think that backing an away win is the way to go in this fixture.
