Vale to return to winning ways

Heading into their game with Bradford on the 13th of November, Port Vale had a chance to end the day top of League Two. Instead, they were held to a 1-1 draw and have lost back-to-back games since which has seen them plummet to 5th, eight points off league-leaders Forest Green.

They need to bounce back in order to hold on to their play-off place with plenty of teams lurking but the Valiants are fancied by the bookies here given that they were on a seven-game winning run at home until a fortnight ago.

Stuck in the middle

Almost halfway through the season, Hartlepool find themselves in 15th, but just six points off the play-off places. They are however in free-fall having lost each of their last four league games conceding 13 times along the way. Two of those defeats came on the road during that time in which they shipped eight goals.

No side has taken fewer points (4) than Hartlepool have on the road this season and they scored just six goals in nine matches on their travels, conceding an average of two goals per game and that’s why I’m tipping a Port Vale win with a 2-0 score-line here.
