Vale to blunt free-scoring Rochdale

All of Port Vale’s five league games so far have produced under 2.5 goals and we expect the same outcome when The Valiants entertain Rochdale this Saturday.

Darrell Clarke’s side have been superb defensively in the opening weeks of the campaign, conceding just two goals overall and keeping three clean sheets.

Vale were able to build on their solid foundation to claim the notable scalp of leaders Forest Green Rovers last weekend and they should be able to hold a free-scoring Rochdale outfit at bay here.

Dale smashed in 61 goals in League One last term despite being relegated and they travel to Vale Park having bagged five in their last three starts. Vale will be extremely difficult to breach though, while Rochdale’s defensive fragilities are unlikely to be exploited by the hosts attackers who have netted just three goals overall this season.

Under 2.5 is the pick for the weekend’s action at Vale Park and we’re also going for a 1-1 score-line as there shouldn’t be much to separate these two sides.
