Porto vs Chelsea Predictions
After narrowly missing out on the Portuguese Primeira Liga last season, finishing three points behind champions Benfica, Porto are intent on reclaiming the domestic title this season.
They are at the top of the table at the moment, but they have managed to drop points against the likes of Maritimo and Moreirense already in their six league games.
Apart from this, they also drew with Dynamo Kiev in the opening round of Champions League group games, but they have won their remaining four matches this season.
This makes them unbeaten in 12 competitive matches in all competitions, with their last loss coming at the Allianz Arena when they lost 6-1 to Bayern Munich in April.
Chelsea only just avoided defeat on Saturday. They travelled to St James’ Park to play a Newcastle side who hadn’t won in the league all season, and found themselves 2-0 down with half an hour remaining.
Ramires and Willian got two late goals though, and an end result of 2-2 saved Chelsea’s blushes and takes their unbeaten streak to four matches in all competitions.
But it’s been far from convincing for Chelsea this season, and they find themselves way down the pecking order in 15th place in the Premier League.
This means that their title defence is effectively over already, so all of their focus will be on trying to lift the biggest club trophy in the world.
Chelsea have won the last three meetings between these sides, and they haven’t lost against the Portuguese side since December 2004. Coincidentally, this was shortly after Mourinho left Porto to become manager of Chelsea.
Porto have scored in all of their matches this season, whilst Chelsea have seen both teams score in five of their last seven fixtures.
With Chelsea’s weary looking defence and an attack that have scored in all of their last seven games I think a bet of Both Teams to Score at 10/11 is a good outcome to back.
