Draw 1-1 @ 5/1

Reason For Portsmouth vs Ipswich Predictions

  • Portsmouth’s run of seven games unbeaten came to an end last weekend with a resounding 4-1 loss to Accington Stanley, leaving the south coast side in 10th place.
  • Ipswich Town have lost ground at the top of the table in recent weeks, failing to win in their last four games, falling seven points behind leaders Wycombe Wanderers.
  • Portsmouth games have averaged 2.8 goals per game this season with all five of their last five games beating the 2.5 goal line.
  • Ipswich games have an average of 2.3 goals per game with nine of their matches this season seeing both teams scoring.

Are Portsmouth still a sleeping giant?

Portsmouth haven’t enjoyed much luck over the past few seasons and will be desperate to get back to the higher divisions. They have struggled at times this season though and didn’t start well but in recent weeks have enjoyed a bit more fortune, going seven games without a loss until last weekend.

11 of the teams 19 games have seen both teams finding the net and in recent weeks 80% of their games have seen over 2.5 goals. The side score 1.52 goals per game on average and concede 1.26, meaning there should be goals in this match.

Ipswich Town need to rediscover the winning touch

Ipswich were keeping pace with league leaders, Wycombe, until a few weeks ago when they hit a poor run of form. They drew three games in a row and then picked up a disappointing 2-1 loss against Bristol Rovers to leave them seven points off the summit.

The side have been able to keep scoring goals in that time though, only failing to find the net once in the last five matches. They’ve averaged 1.52 goals per game this season but have performed much better defensively conceding less than a goal a game on average.

Who emerges victorious at Frattan Park?

These two sides will both be hoping to turn things around this weekend and get back to winning ways but we think both teams could end up waiting a little longer for another three points. Both teams do look like finding the net however and we’re backing this match to see goals at either end.

There isn’t a lot to pick from between the sides though, especially with Portsmouth being at home and we’re predicting that this match finishes in a stalemate. There is plenty to suggest a couple of goals in this match though and we’re backing a 1-1 draw.
