Oxford United Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

This is a key game in the relegation battle and Oxford come into the clash in the far better form. The visitors have three wins and just one defeat in their last six games, while Portsmouth have just two points to show from their last seven games. Back the visitors to claim at least a share of the spoils.

Oxford United 2-1

Reason for tip

Oxford have just one clean sheet in their last seven games and Portsmouth have only failed to score in one of their last five games overall. Goals at both ends looks likely but Oxford are the team with the momentum and they can battle to a 2-1 victory.

Portsmouth vs Oxford United Predictions

  • Portsmouth are winless in seven, losing five
  • Oxford have just one defeat in their last six
  • Pompey have lost their last four home games

Proverbial six-pointer at Fratton Park

Portsmouth entertain Oxford United in the early Championship kick off on Monday in a huge game in terms of the battle for survival.

Pompey sit in the final safe spot but they are just one point clear of Leicester and Oxford, although the hosts do have a game in hand.

Oxford come into the game as clear underdogs but they are the team in the far better form and they look capable of at the very least avoiding defeat here.

Backing the visitors to either win or draw in the double chance market is the pick, as Portsmouth’s form has nosedived in recent weeks.

Pompey are on a seven-game winless run and they’ve lost five of those games, including each of their last four at Fratton Park.

In contrast, Oxford have just one defeat in their last six games and they’ve shown their fight with victories over direct rivals Blackburn and West Brom during that period.

The U’s form suggests that they could win this game but taking the prices into account backing the visitors in the double chance market offers enough value.

Pompey have failed to score in three of their last four home games but they can at least get on the scoresheet on Saturday. Oxford have just one clean sheet in their last seven games and Portsmouth have only failed to score in one of their last five games overall. As Oxford are the team with the momentum, they may be able to nick a vital victory on the south coast and a 2-1 win for the visitors is the pick.
