Goals both ways at Fratton Park

Both teams can find the net when Portsmouth take on West Brom at Fratton Park on Saturday. Both teams have scored in five of West Brom’s last seven Championship matches.

The two sides have lost more games than they’ve won this season, with West Brom one place above Portsmouth in the table. The visitors have nine wins and 15 defeats from their 29 games, while Pompe have seven wins and 11 losses.

Portsmouth are hard to beat. They have avoided defeat in seven of their last eight Championship games, while West Brom are without a win in five and have lost six of their last eight.

West Brom ended a run of four straight defeats last Friday with a 1-1 draw with Derby, having conceded the opening goal for the third game in a row. West Brom restricted Derby to one shot on target and, with the pre-game betting suggesting a tight contest, they picked up a draw having been available at odds of 15/8.

Both teams have been struggling defensively of late, which could mean goals. Portsmouth have failed to keep a clean sheet in 17 of their last 20 Championship games, while West Brom are on a run of 11 away days without recording a shutout.

This means goals could be on the cards, as both teams have scored in five of West Brom’s last seven Championship away games.

A 2-1 away win for West Brom looks a decent correct-score bet. Five of the last seven of their Championship games have produced three or more goals, and eight of West Brom’s nine wins this season were by a single goal.
