Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Crystal Palace have been involved in a number of high-scoring games this season, with six of their last seven outings going over 2.5 goals. A repeat of that looks likely in a game in which both teams are fancied to score in Lyon.

      Draw 2-2

      Reason for tip

There looks to be little to separate these two teams, who have both had solid enough starts to their season and won their first European games. Goals look likely so a 2-2 draw is a tempting correct score selection.

      Lyon vs Crystal Palace Predictions

      • Both teams have scored in Crystal Palace’s last four European away games
      • Palace have only lost one of their last 12 European games
      • Both teams have scored in four of Lyon’s five European matches

Goals on the cards in France

Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage returns to his former club Lyon for his new team’s first away game of this Europa League campaign.

The Eagles rode their luck at times in their 3-1 win over former manager Oliver Glasner and his Nottingham Forest team on Sunday and another high-scoring affair could ensue in this clash.

Palace are yet to completely convince under Sage as they adapt to the Frenchman’s tactics, with his side losing three of their opening six league games.

They have been better in other competitions, with a 3-0 win over Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup followed by a record 4-0 European victory over Lech Poznan last month.

Lyon are a solid side, though, who have won eight of their last nine league phase matches in the Europa League. The hosts were beaten 2-1 by Lens on Friday but before that had gone five games unbeaten, including wins over Rennes, Anderlecht and Auxerre.

It looks hard to split these two teams for win purposes and the safer bet may be to side with goals. Both teams have scored in four of Lyon’s five European games this term while six of Palace’s last seven outings have produced three or more goals. Take both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.

Correct score backers may want to opt for a 2-2 draw against two teams who look hard to separate.
