Fernandes can fire Portugal to victory

Portugal head to Euro 2024 among the favourites for the trophy with their old guard gelling alongside an exciting group of rising stars. Manager Roberto Martinez is hoping to fare better with this promising generation than he did with Belgium, but the Spaniard has made the perfect start with 10 wins from 10 in qualifying.

Portugal were ruthless on their way to the Euros but their defensive standards slipped in the March friendlies. They won 5-2 at home to Sweden before losing 2-0 at Slovenia. While the Portuguese have incredible attacking talent which will surely trouble Finland, there are worries at the back.

The Finns missed out on qualification to the Euros, but they head into this clash having won three of their last four matches. The Finns have seen both teams score in four of their last five matches, netting 10 times during that stretch.

Despite their form, Finland should be little match for a Portugal side which has won all six home games since the World Cup, scoring 26 times. The 2016 European champions have incredible talent going forward and Bruno Fernandes stands out, with the midfielder scoring six times in qualifying and netting in five of his last seven international appearances.

Back Fernandes to get on the scoresheet in a big victory for the hosts, but the Finns should be good for a consolation strike.
