      Preston vs Brentford Predictions

Preston’s fine first season back in the Second tier shows no sign of deteriorating. They have taken 10 points from their last 4 league games with wins against Hull, Rotherham and Bristol City prior to a solid point at Ipswich last weekend when energetic midfielder Daniel Johnson grabbed his 7th goal of the season.

The Lancashire club have moved up to 13th place as a result of their good form and are now closer to the play-off places than the relegation zone. They trail Brentford by just 1 point and could move into the top 10 with victory here depending on other results.

It is hard to know what to make of Brentford sometimes. Awful in the opening weeks of the campaign but much improved under Lee Carsley and initially Dean Smith, they at times play some outstanding football for a team in this division.

However it has been a really poor start to 2016 for the club and they have lost all 4 matches so far in January and were 3-0 down at the break last time out at home to Burnley. One or two strange stories behind the scenes are again threatening to take the shine off what was shaping up to be another excellent season.

James Tarkowski refused to play against Burnley last Friday due to supposed interest from the Lancashire club and this week Alan Judge, who scored in that game, is said to have grown frustrated at not being offered a new contract despite another impressive campaign from him.

In short Brentford doesn’t seem like a particularly happy camp right now and backing in-form Preston to win this at 11/8 looks like a smart move here.

There aren’t normally many goals at Deepdale but Preston are very good at the back and might be worth a punt at 10/1 to secure a 2-0 victory here.
