Preston vs Reading Predictions
Steve Clarke’s flirtation with Fulham angered many at the Madejski and a dip in form only served to seal the fate of a manager, who was popular and widely considered to have been doing a good job less than 2 months previously.
You sense December could be a crucial month in determining how Reading’s season pans out. They need to end a run of just 1 win in 8 matches if they are to stay in contention for the top 6 and they need to appoint a manager who can get them back on track.
Brian McDermott is the overwhelming favourite to return to the club but it isn’t likely to happen quite as quickly as had seemed likely and therefore Under 21 coach Martin Kuhl will take charge of the team here.
With uncertainty evident and confidence low in the visiting camp after back-to-back defeats, Preston will really fancy this. They were excellent 2-0 winners away to local rivals Burnley last time out and are now 5 points clear of the drop-zone.
They have suffered just 1 defeat in 9 matches and have only conceded 3 goals in that period so they look great value here at 8/11 in the ‘draw no bet’ market. A very solid defence has proved the foundations for their success and with Joe Garner, who netted 26 times in League 1 last season, having finally opening his account for this term, they have the potential to progress further into the comforts of mid-table.
This might just be a really good time to play Reading and another Preston clean sheet and another 2-0 win can be backed at 9/1.
