PSG vs Lens Predictions
- Lens lost 3-2 at Brest in their first trip of the campaign
- The visitors finished just a point behind PSG last term
- PSG conceded in all but five of their 19 home games last season
Slow start for champions
Luis Enrique has quickly got PSG playing his way, but it is yet to pay off for the French champions. The former Spain boss has made PSG Ligue 1’s standout passing side, having made over 500 passes more than any other team. Unfortunately, they have just two points to show for it from their first two games.
PSG meet the side who finished just a point behind them last term, with Lens close to an incredible title win after a brilliant season. In the end, it was a 3-1 defeat at this ground which saw them fall short. Their hopes of going close again this term have taken a hit early on, having claimed just one point so far. Can last season’s runners-up step up at the home of the champions?
Hosts can expect openings
PSG have been largely frustrated so far, scoring just once across their opening two games. They can expect better on Saturday, with Lens shipping far too many goals already. The visitors let in three goals in a loss at Brest in their opener, a game where they failed to press their opponents well enough.
The visitors being standoffish again would play into the hands of PSG’s possession-heavy build-up. However, the hosts could struggle against Lens’ direct approach on the counter with the champions keeping just five home clean sheets last term – three of which came against relegated sides.
PSG should prove too strong and they should click back into gear going forward. However, Lens look capable of causing the hosts problems so back a home win and both teams to score.
