PSV vs Rostov Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

PSV started the campaign in the same dominant fashion as they did last season, but they have dropped off the boil massively since the Champions League group stages began. Now they are not only struggling in Europe but are also falling behind the pace in the Eredivisie.

Their goalless draw at Roda JC on Saturday leaves them 3rd in the Eredivisie, three points adrift of Ajax and Feyenoord above them and having played a game more. They have won just one of their last six in all competitions now, with two defeats coming in the Champions League.

PSV have lost three of their five Champions League group games and won none, leaving them bottom of the group and three points behind Rostov in 3rd. With the game in Russia in September ending all square, a win for PSV would see them qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Rostov have proven that they are no pushovers though. They managed a sensational victory at home to Bayern Munich in their last group game and haven’t disgraced themselves by any means in their two matches against Atletico Madrid.

They played out a goalless draw with Zenit on Saturday to make it three wins, two draws, and one defeat in their last six games. An earlier run of poor form has left them trailing behind the leaders of the pack, but they are finding their feet again now and know they only need to avoid defeat to continue a European campaign.

Rostov’s away form is a real worry though. They haven’t won on the road since a trip to Anderlecht in the Champions League qualifiers back in August. Since then they have lost nine of their 12 trips away, so them managing to secure a point could be a real struggle.

PSV’s home form is a little better than their overall performance as well. They have won three of their last six and lost just once. During this time they only conceded five goals, which includes a hosting of Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Rostov have failed to score in six of their last seven away games. Backing Both Teams Not to Score at 19/20 looks a good choice here, and I’m going for a 1-0 win for the hosts at 6/1 for my correct score predictions too.
