Improving Chelsea entertain Brentford

Chelsea are starting to show some encouraging signs under Mauricio Pochettino ahead of the visit of Brentford for the early Premier League kick off on Saturday.

The Bees had a good record against Chelsea last season, taking four points from two games, but may struggle to get anything here as the Blues look to build on last week’s strong showing against Arsenal.

Chelsea can claim the spoils

The draw with the Gunners ended a three-game winning run for Chelsea but they can get back to winning ways against Brentford, who are yet to really get going this season.

Thomas Frank’s men did manage a 3-0 win over Burnley last time out at home, ending an eight-game winless streak, but if Chelsea perform as they did for the first 77 minutes against Arsenal they should be able to claim the three points.

Bees could be good for a goal

While Chelsea are improving, they still have some work to do at the back and they blew a 2-0 lead in the final 13 minutes against Arsenal.

Pochettino’s men have only managed one clean sheet in five Premier League home games and Brentford have only failed to score in one of their five away fixtures across all competitions. That suggests we may see goals at both ends and a 2-1 win for the hosts looks a reasonable correct score bet.

Did Mykhailo Mudryk mean to shoot when he scored against Arsenal, or was it a miss-hit cross? Only he knows the answer to that but what is clear is the Ukrainian should draw some confidence both from that goal and his overall display against the Gunners. The 22-year-old should keep his starting spot for Saturday’s visit of the Bees and he looks a good contender for an anytime effort.
